This project aims at addressing the shortage in wastewater services faced by the population in Kathmandu Valley using a multi-dimensional approach. Works will include:

  • rehabilitation and expansion of the sewerage network
  • cleaning approximately 56km of sewer blockage
  • construction and expansion of five wastewater treatment plants
  • capacity building
On completion, the project will increase the number of people connected to the wastewater network by around 760,000. The provision of safe sanitation services will result in a dramatic decrease in waterborne diseases and an improvement of the general health of the population.
