The purpose of the project was to rehabilitate the existing facilities at NIOC's Mano River Mine, increasing iron ore output, improving infrastructural facilities and strengthening NIOC's management capability. The project consisted of :
- acquisition of mining equipment;
- upgrading of the power plant;
- rehabilitation of a railroad and railway bridge over St. Paul River; and
- carrying out of studies and pilot projects.
