The objective of the project was to increase public awareness about water use and establish new concepts of this scarce resource with emphasis in the agricultural sector among citizens in general and farmers in particular and contribute to capacity building of leadership of water awareness programs for the necessity of introducing the efficiency aspect in its use. The project benefitted 21 Arab countries including Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, Djibouti, Sudan, Somalia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Yemen, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Morocco and Mauritania. OFID's grant specifically covered the "training of trainers" and "farmers exchange visits" components of the project.
