The grant has been extended to UNESCO with the objectives to increase access of school-aged children and students of all education levels and improve the ability of the education system to retain them; to improve the quality of teaching and learning; and to develop the capacity for planning and management. The project achieved the following outputs: 1. Implemented an awareness programmes on inclusive and child-friendly education in 70 pilot schools (44 in the West bank and 26 in Gaza), targeting 49 master trainers from Gaza and 54 master trainers from West Bank. 2. Developed the ‘Inclusive Education Activity Guide’ with the participation of 53 (1-4 grades) Arabic and Math teachers, subject supervisors and special education supervisors. 3. A total of 1866 parents and caregivers (1036 in the West Bank and 830 in Gaza) and 603 students from 4 universities in Gaza benefited directly from the awareness-raising activities. 4. A total of 1519 school staff (including teachers, school principals, vice-principals, and school counsellors) from MoEHE and UNRWA schools were trained by master trainers and supervisors on inclusive and child-friendly education. 5. Implemented targeted after-school programmes for children and youth providing recreation (e.g. sports and cultural activities), tutoring, life skills and livelihood skills. 6. Establishment of Child Clubs in the pilot schools in Gaza and the West Bank.
