After the implementation of the first two phases of OFID co-financed projects aimed at rehabilitating Cuba’s electricity network and increasing the number of household, commercial and industrial connections, power outages have decreased by two-thirds. The new infrastructure has raised efficiency - as evidenced in the reduction of the overall peak demand on Havana’s power grid.
Phase III will continue with the rehabilitation program through the modernization of four substations in Parraga, Sana Fe, Santa Maria del Mar and Santa Maria del Rosario and the upgrading of the distribution system. Staff of Cuba’s electricity provider will receive maintenance and equipment operations training.
