There are presently 745 irrigation works throughout Ha Tinh Province that supply water to 92,285 ha of land. Built more than 30 years ago, the network is worn and easily damaged by floods during the rainy season, and functions poorly during the drought months. The project will be carried out in nine districts in 60 of the province’s most impoverished communes. Works will entail:
- construction and/or rehabilitation of 51 small-scale irrigation works including dams, reservoirs and pumping stations; and
- reclaimation and restoration of 1,225 ha of unused land for rice cultivation.
