Egypt’s demand for electricity has been steadily rising and it will thus be necessary to add over 5,400 MW of new generating capacity during the next five years to insure continual.
The project will construct a 1,500 MW combined cycle gas turbine power plant at the Giza North site, located on the eastern bank of the El-Beheiry Canal – the main source of water for the power plant. As the new plant will be connected to the national grid, the country’s total power generation capacity will be increased, thereby helping alleviate interruptions in service that represent a major constraint to socio-economic development.
