The grant has been extended to support an agricultural project in Notto, Tassette, and Ndiaganiao in Senegal. The specific objective of the project is to strengthen the food security of 600 rural families living in a fragile and increasingly degraded dry-land area in 50 villages through the sustainable production and comercialization of agro-forestry products as well as institutional and organizational capacity development.Strengthening both sides in their institutional and organizational capacities, the program aimed to transform implicit traditional and/or local knowledge in explicit knowledge to be included in the university's curricula and research strategies. Titled a Community Academic Partnership Program, it pretends to establish symmetrical and systemic relations between communities, the academics and the farmers, to enhance the local knowledge and to generate new know-how. This specific space of interaction has been materialized around real problems and common interests.
