Capitalizing on TCF’s training program and to complement it, using OFID funding TCF also launched e-learning centres (audio-video rooms) in 4 of its primary schools. This number increased to 34 schools by December 2017. These centres provide teachers an opportunity to review and retouch concepts and supplemented the INSET training throughout the year. Each room consists of an LED TV, a UPS battery and other related equipment, funded through this grant. By June 2018 TCF added LED TVs to 16 additional schools, allowing the total impacted schools to come up to 50. These audio-visual rooms were used to conduct additional trainings in June 2018, which benefited an additional 152 trainees for a six-day training for 4 hours (3,648 training hours). All the planned trainings have been conducted and have generated 609,384 training man hours, reaching total of 11,116 trainees over the project time period. Four training programs were conducted, which targeted teachers, principals, and master trainers. The activities to deliver these results included conducting an annual training need analysis (TNA). The methodology used qualitative feedback from teachers, principals and education managers, as well as quantitative analysis of teacher competency test results and student learning outcomes. Once the key focus areas are identified TCF created training modules through in-house trainers or third-party subject specialists. The first round of trainings called In-Service (INSET) training was held in over 53 venues and 39 districts all over Pakistan. Under the project 321 trainers helped developed content knowledge and pedagogical skills of a total of 4,632 female teachers generating total 260,843 training man-hours. The Principals Academy (PA) took place as scheduled. It was designed using project-based learning and the case study approach to teach Principals how to create and implement a School Improvement Plan. The PA spanned 23 venues and 26 groups of principals. The entire training generated total of 12,996 training man-hours (361 trainees) ×6 days × 6 training hours per day). Training of Trainers (TOT) sessions were held across eight locations in Pakistan to train master trainers for the in-service training held for all 9000+ faculty over the summer vacations. Total of 23,651 training hours were generated and 396 master trainers were trained. These master trainers went on to conduct the two-week in-service training (INSET 2017) sessions held in July 2017. A total of 5,726 trainees were reached at 55 venues, over a two-week period, generating total of 311,891 training hours. The trainings conducted under this project directly strengthened capacity of teachers through better content knowledge and teaching skills, seen by the TCF Teacher Competency Test (TCT) Results which increased from 71% in 2015 (pre-project) to 78% in 2017 (post project). In the long run these trainings will contribute towards more skilled women in the Pakistani market. Government Board Examinations also showed excellent results, 94% of TCF students appearing for exams passed, of which 58% received A or A+.
