This project aimed at enhancing access to essential treatment services for cancer patients from all parts of the occupied Palestinian territories (oPt) including East Jerusalem. This was achieved through strengthening the capacity of the Augusta Victoria Hospital. The project activities included (i) the expansion, renovation, rehabilitation and upgrading of the existing chemotherapy department at the hospital; (ii) the provision of medical equipment and tools; and (iii) equipping and furnishing the targeted department. Project Outputs: 1. Existing Chemotherapy Department expanded; 2. 25% of Outpatient Chemotherapy Services increased; 3. Efficiency and effectiveness of provided services enhanced; 4. Access to health services in East Jerusalem improved; 5. New permanent job opportunities created. It is worth noting that UNDP/PAPP utilized part of the funds dedicated for donor visibility on this project to finance two activities (both referring to OFID as the donor): A check up and awareness campaign for women on breast cancer, and a recreational event for cancer survivor children at the hospital. In addition, a video on the new facilities is being produced.
