To expand the electricity grid to cover disadvantaged areas in the Kanifing Municipality and rural settlements in the Western Kombo Central Region. In all, at least 10,000 new household connections and 1,700 business connections will be installed. The project has two interlocking aspects that are essential to expanding access and improving reliability of electrical power.
- construction of a new transmission line and related infrastructure to connect, for the first time, rural settlements in West Coast Region to the national grid; and, to improve the reliability of electricity to major agriculture areas in the deprived areas of Greater Banjul;
- supporting investments required to launch electrification programs in designated poor peri-urban and rural reas.
