The OPEC Fund extended two grants of $50,000 each to Yemen in support of relief efforts against damage caused by heavy rains and floods across the country specifically the governorates of Shabwah, Hadhramout, Mareb and Al Jawf. Two million people were rendered homeless, as a consequence of this calamity, with many dead and others injured. Massive destruction has been on buildings, hospitals, roads, bridges, water supply network and communication. The OPEC Fund's assistance was directed toward the procurement of medical supplies, blankets, spare parts and equipment for strengthening water supply and flood protection systems.
