Emergency assistance of US$200,000 helped procure urgently needed relief supplies for victims of the heavy flooding in southern and central provinces of Mozambique. Overflowing rivers and pressure on dams have caused severe flooding, resulting in extensive damage to vital infrastructure such as bridges, roads and railway lines, and destroying property, leaving over 300,000 people homeless.
