The grant was directed toward the provision of urgently needed winter relief items for displaced people in the affected area of Northen Drenica, Kosovo. Specifically, the municipality of Srbica. The conflict in Kosovo began in March 1998 and triggered the exodus of a large proportion of the Kosovo population living in the affected area. Some 270,000 displaced persons are living without shelter at the commencement of the winter season 1998.
