This project aims at improving sanitation infrastructure in Pikine, a suburb of the capital Dakar. This will not only improve living conditions but also help prevent flooding during the rainy season, which presently poses a significant health risk to 43,000-strong population. Works will include:
- construction of a 27 km-long wastewater network and sewage pumping station with a capacity of around 720 m3per hour,
- connection of new infrastructure to the electricity grid and to the existing sewerage treatment plant, as well as 2,000 household connections
- installation of a secondary rainwater and drainage network
- paving of 6km of roads and 17,000 m2 of sidewalks
