To construct a 6.3 km motorway in Zenica, which is situated some 70 km north of Sarajevo and is surrounded by mountainous terrain which makes travel difficult and expensive. The specific objective of the project is to improve the efficiency of the road infrastructure along the subsection between Klopce and Donja Gracanica by eliminating existing bottlenecks.Works will include:

  • construction of 6.32 km of motorway between Klopce and Donja Gracanica
  • construction of viaducts, tunnels and underpasses
  • provision of interconnections of nine existing local roads to enable access to towns and villages in the project area
  • construction of rest areas and roadside facilities
The project will directly benefit some 143,000 people residing in Zenica, the country's fourth largest city.Other benefits include:
  • reduced travel time and cost
  • creation of employment opportunities
  • increased tourism and trade activities
  • improvement in the agriculture sector, as producers will be able to transport their goods more swiftly and efficiently
