Phase II of this project, which was also co-financed by OFID, successfully installed a 14 MW diesel generator. Under Phase III, the following works will be carried out:

  • replacement of an aging generator with a new 7.45 MW diesel generator that will improve the 20 KV distribution network within Djibouti City;
  • procurement of spare parts for maintenance;
  • rehabilitation of the old Boulaos facilities building;
  • construction of a new equipment housing structure.
After completion, the increased capacity will help reduce power outages and offer the population more reliable and less expensive energy services.
