The project will address the severe poverty situation of some 105,000 inhabitants living in worker settlements along the Dominican- Haitian Border, as well as their social and political exclusion.
- capacity building and institution strengthening;
- provision of support to grassroots organizations that offer legal assistance, literacy programs and other services;
- provision of training to small and micro-enterprises owners in areas such as livestock production, micro-enterprise management and marketing;
- setting up of a productive infrastructure fund to give local organizations capital for financing small irrigation systems, rural roads, inputs and equipment;
- construction/rehabilitation of over 1,000 homes;
- construction of basic infrastructure.
