With the help of an equity investment from
OFID, Byblos, one of the leading banks in
Lebanon, has created a new bank in the Sudan
called Byblos Bank Africa (BBA). An immediate
benefit of this expansion will be the injection of
new capital into Sudan’s banking sector to help
meet the financing requirements of major
Sudanese companies. Another benefit will be the
listing of BBA on the Khartoum Stock Exchange.
BBA will support Sudanese companies for trade
financing through both lines of credit and pre-export
facilities. It will also provide direct loans to
the industry sector and hence contribute to
increased employment and improved economic
development.
