Friends Society of Visually Impaired Rehabilitation was established as a non-governmental organization in 1995 in Tel Alhawa in Gaza. The objectives of the Society are to reinforce the role of society in achieving community based development in Gaza Strip through its care about the visually impaired, upgrading the level of awareness of the Palestinian society in general and parents-relatives , exploring the visually impaired cases and providing them with appropriate care and the provision of suitable education services. The grant was extended to co-finance introducing a new mechanism to improve the early visual detection and intervention through Establishment of a Mobile Clinic Unit. The Unit has been equipped with specialized personnel and modern equipment, carry out examinations and diagnoses of visual capacity for children in schools to assist in the progress of daily life and education, distribution of brochures, holding awareness workshops for communities to establish knowledge as well as provision of tools to assist in the rehabilitation of these cases through the education system.
