The Shams Al Houryah Association for Training and Qualification of Women was established in 1992, and is based in the city of Deir Albalah in the Gaza Strip. The Association's mission is to improve the socio-economic status of women and their community through education programs, income generating projects, and enhancing their role and participation in community development. OFID financially supported a new project called "Women's Club for Psychological, Health, and Social Rights and Protection", with the aim to empower women in post conflict communities by enabling them to understand their rights and providing them psycho-social and health support. It created women leaders, who are able to protect and empower women in their community. The total project budget was US$95,000.
