Balsam Rehabilitation Society was established in 2002 as a non-profit, non-governmental community based organization, concerned with the rehabilitation of handicapped and persons with special needs. The grant supported the "Home Adoption and Equipments for Physically Disabled People in Gaza City" project, which aims at enhancing the development of appropriate materials and infrastructure for physically disabled in Gaza. Handicapped benefit from the project through reconstruction and modification of their homes. The living conditions of 20 houses of handicapped persons were improved and their daily suffering minimized. Training and workshops for the targeted handicapped and their families on "living with disabilities" were held.
