A project is presently underway to upgrade a 162-km section of the road and install drainage works. However, the devalued dollar and increased cost of construction materials occasioned by soaring fuel prices have led to a funding gap.
This additional loan from OFID will help cover these unforeseen costs so that civil works can be completed. The improved road will help boost food security and ease the cost of transporting agricultural goods.
