This project aimed to improve water supply and sewerage facilities for a region where only around one-quarter of the households had piped water and treatment facilities were virtually non-existent. Water collectors and 15-km of pipelines were installed, a purification plant constructed and distribution system built, boosting available water supplies as well as preventing numerous water-borne diseases.
