To help reduce poverty and improve food security through the development of agricultural value chains. Activities will be carried out in seven provinces populated by some 3.6 million people. The program will consist of three components:
- promotion and strengthening of value chains: this component will finance activities aimed at improving the quality and value of dairy, rice and other products and strengthening the organization of the concerned value chains with a view to increase their competitiveness; foster demand for these products; and, bring better returns to value chain members, in particular smallholder producers and their organizations;
- development of 3,100 ha of new marshland and rehabilitation of 1,750 ha of existing marshland for rice production; construction of feeder roads and rehabilitation of watersheds;
- financing of institutional support activities, program coordination and management costs.
