This project aims at improving the livelihoods and incomes of smallholder farmers in the Kaolack, Diourbel and Fatick regions in the Groundnut Basin area. This will be achieved by facilitating their entry into new, profitable value chains, such as crop diversification and poultry-raising. OFID’s loan will co-finance a rural infrastructure improvement component that will:
- develop or rehabilitate irrigation schemes owned or managed by producers’ organizations;
- construction of community-level infrastructure to remove constraints to value chain development/strengthening;
- rehabilitation of feeder roads; and
- construction of dikes, small dams and reservoirs.
