Water scarcity in Jordan is a major inhibitor to growth and a serious threat to its agriculture sector. The objective of this project is to raise productivity and incomes among 15,000 farming families in the governorates of Krak, Rafilia and Maan.
Activities will focus on the management of agricultural resources, especially the conservation of water and soil, and farmers will be encouraged to diversify and integrate crop and livestock production. Micro-credit facilities will be created to facilitate the purchase of necessary inputs and equipment and support the development of other income-generating activities. In addition, a rural roads component will ease access to markets and social services.
