Although Grenada has a dense network of agricultural and feeder roads, many are in poor condition. Phase I, which was also co-funded by OFID, rebuilt and rehabilitated 46 feeder roads totaling some 83.5 km and carried out flood protection measures.
Phase II will upgrade and/or rehabilitate 30.6 km of agricultural feeder roads not covered under the original project. Bridges, sea walls and drainage systems will be constructed to help prevent future flooding. The newly-repaired roads will enable produce and farming inputs to be transported more safely and efficiently. It is also anticipated that tourism, another economically vital sector for Grenada, will enjoy increased growth.
