This project aimed to support governmental efforts in ensuring that all categories of school aged children have access to a safe, secure learning environment and quality basic education in specific flood affected districts. The beneficiaries of this proposal were 57,330 affected children in the districts of Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan in Southern Punjab. Since July 21, 2010 more than 16,400 schools in Pakistan have been affected by flash floods among other problems, and the availability of teachers has been compromised. Accordingly, UNICEF, in cooperation with the Government of Pakistan, undertook a project on "Reactivation of Education Sector in Pakistan". OFID's funding was critical in establishing Temporary School Structures (TSSs) during the early recovery phase, through OFID's funding, 16 TSSs were constructed and furnished. The project was successfully completed.
