The project aims to leverage foreign direct investments more effectively for sustainable development. Its specific objectives are to support informed decision-making by Governments of developing countries, meaningful public participation and fair outcomes in investor-State arbitrations through the establishment of a Transparency Registry. It will cover the administration and maintenance as well as day-to-day legal and operational functions of the registry by UNCITRAL for two years. The project has contributed to the following results regarding the application of the UNCITRAL Transparency Standards: 1. Entry into force of the Transparency Convention; 2. Inclusion of the Transparency Rules into Treaties; 3. Application of the Transparency Rules by agreement of the disputing parties.
