OPEC Fund Director-General Dr Abdulhamid Alkhalifa headed a high-level mission to Suriname in September. In addition to signing two new loans totaling US$32 million to support sustainable development in the country’s health and energy sectors, Dr Alkhalifa and his delegation had ample opportunity to review the impact of ongoing and completed projects, engage with local stakeholders as well as beneficiaries, and gain some sense of the cultural and natural wonder that characterizes this vibrant nation.
