Nepal has long excited the minds of adventurous travelers. Landlocked between China to the north, and India to the south, east and west, this ancient land is perhaps best known as home to eight of the world’s ten highest mountains, including Mount Everest, and birthplace of the primary figure in Buddhism, Gautama Buddha. The astonishing diversity of Nepal’s terrain – ranging from Himalayan peaks to hilly regions as well as plain lands and dense, sub-tropical forests – is reflected in its population. Numbering almost 30 million, Nepalis are fiercely proud of their rich, multi-cultural heritage, and extremely warm-hearted in welcoming visitors.
