“My dream was to go and further my education”

“In 2011, my country went through a crisis. It was bad. Sometimes when you watch the TV, you think okay, this is for others not for my country, but actually, what we experienced in Côte d’Ivoire was very bad.

“We moved from my home where I was living in the city to a village. My mother asked all of us to come to the village. But it was my dream to go and further my education given the circumstances.

“My work focuses on post-harvest loss for small production farmers in rural areas in Benin. Half of produce stored is not used. So what I try to address is the issue of farmers not having access to proper storage technology. I also try to look at why it is that the post-harvest maize affects the market price. Instead of just saying okay lets improve production, let’s improve productivity.”
