This project aims at modernizign water supply and sewerage systems in the capital, Managua, and in the northern districts of Leon and Chinandega. Works will include:

  • installation of new equipment and rehabilitation of pumping stations and distribution networks; and,
  • provision of support to present efforts to prevent further water pollution and protect Lake Managua.
In all, some one million people benefited from safe and reliable water and sanitation services, while helping lower mortality rates from water-borne diseases, especially among infants.
