Banjul’s population has grown at an exceptionally high rate, largely due to urban migration. This situation has placed extreme pressure on public utilities and services. The project will expand on the successes of the OFID co-financed Second Public Works Project, which carried out 20 subprojects that built and rehabilitated important infrastructure.
Phase III will implement additional sub-projects in the Greater Banjul Area, identified and proposed by beneficiary communities. Strong priority will be placed on schemes that will help address the area’s inadequate flood control and drainage systems. As the sub-projects are labor-intensive, a large number of temporary and permanent jobs will be created.
