The overall objective of this research program was to provide a long-term solution for preventing chronic arsenic poisoning of Bangladesh’s water supplies. The program included a pilot operation which aimed at demonstrating to the villagers in Bangladesh, the proper methodology for digging wells with the right specifications and locations to ensure safe drinking water and in consistency with WHO standards. The methodology has been proven successful and adopted on a larger scale in Bangladesh.
