Telimele Integrated Rural Development

The prefecture of Telimele comprises 14 districts that depend heavily on rain-fed agriculture. The area’s rapidly-growing population, however, is placing increasing pressure on underdeveloped rural infrastructure. The project will therefore develop 675 ha of land by installing an irrigation network and drainage system, build a small dam and provide farmers with inputs. Also planned is establishment of farmers’ associations and training programs. Other works will include drilling boreholes and wells and building 192 km of feeder roads, 10 primary schools and health centers/units
