This loan helped finance a power plant conversion and expansion project for the Takoradi Thermal Power Plant located in Aboadze in the western region of Ghana. The project entails the conversion of an existing 220MW light-crude-oil and gas fired simple cycle power station, to a combined cycle thermal power plant. The conversion will allow the plant to generate an additional 122MW of power without any incremental fuel consumption.
