This facility will provide much needed liquidity to microfinance institutions around the world. The Microfinance Enhancement Facility was created in 2009 as an initiative of the IFC and KFW in response to the financial crisis at the time and the resulting liquidity challenges faced by microfinance institutions worldwide. The Fund has evolved within five years as an efficient microfinance debt provider stabilising the microfinance market.
