The project aims at facilitating the integration of isolated rural areas into the national community; improving access to employment and basic social services for the rural population; and supporting rural economic activity by facilitating the transportation of goods. Through its investment program, the project will finance the rehabilitation and maintenance of some 500 km of secondary and rural roads throughout the country. The project will also contribute to the institutional strengthening and reform program of the Ministry of Public Works, Transportation and Communications.
