This loan assisted FONCODES (National Fund for Compensation and Social Development) in its efforts to improve basic infrastructure, social services and incomes in Peru’s poorest areas. Sub-projects included: construction and equipping of schools, health centers and water supply and sanitation facilities; and, upgrading of economic infrastructure and promotion of small-scale enterprises. The economic potential of poor communities was improved considerably by the project.
