The project's aim is to support financially the Government's efforts to promote small scale industries (SSI) and it aims to: (i) achieve a greater level of industrialisation through SSI enterprises; (ii) generate new employment mainly in non-metropolitan areas and rural areas; (iii) promote self reliance through the use of local materials, local skills and indigenous technology; (iv) increase the production of consumer goods; (v) promote import substitution and export oriented industries; and (vi) reduce rural/urban unemployment and income gaps so as to prevent migration to the cities.
