The project will provide infrastructural facilities required for increasing paddy and vegetable production and as such will complement an earlier project financed by AsDB. It will provide irrigation for about 14,000 ha in the wet season and 10,000 ha in the dry season. In addition to pumping facilities, the project consists of a 30 km long feeder canal and a diversion dam, rehabilitation and improvement of the existing irrigation system and an agricultural development program.
