This project aims to improve health indicators in the prefectures of Batha, Biltine and Salamat, areas with low levels of health care coverage. Works will include the following: construction of three 12,500 m2 district hospitals and 31 health centers will be constructed, including housing units for a doctor and one midwife at each facility; procurement of medication and supplies, as well as necessary equipment and furnishings; construction of a blood bank and virology laboratoryat the National Referral Hospital in the capital city N'Djamena, in addition to 16 blood transfusion units across the three prefectures; construction of a virology laboratoryat the district hospital in Kelo; implmentation of a training component for health care personnel across all levels that will cover the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of HIV/AIDS and other related diseases, management of epidemics and blood banks, and safety procedures; and implementation of health and hygiene campaigns.
