This project aims at providing improved water supplies and sanitation facilities for people living in the Same, Mwanga and Korogwe districts. Works will include the following:

  • construction of a water uptake at the Nyumba ya Mungu Dam, together with a 400 km-long water distribution network;
  • construction of pumping stations and a water treatment plant capable of processing 900 m3/hour;
  • building of 10 reservoirs;
  • provision of water storage tanks in each district.
On completion, the project will provide the population with a steady supply of safe drinking water, thus reducing the risk of waterborne diseases. It will also generate a surplus for storage and for use in smallholder subsistence agriculture.
