In order to promote economic recovery in Northern Congo, this project will concentrate activities in the Likouala, Pool and Sangha Departments. Works will include the following:

  • capacity-building among local farmers’ associations and regional directorates of the Ministry of Agriculture involved in the project’s execution;
  • implementation of programs that promote income-generating activities among vulnerable individuals, especially women and indigenous groups;
  • extension of inputs, such as improved seeds;
  • provision of training to farmers for growing high-yield crops by introducingsustainable cultivation techniques; and
  • rehabilitation and maintenance of 100 km of feeder roads, 390 km of inland secondary waterways and 60 bridges.
Approximately 100,000 people living in 250 villages are expected to benefit from the project.
