Rural Areas Economic Development Project

The project seeks to increase sustainable incomes among disadvantaged rural communities in seven provinces by stimulating the growth of rural enterprise activity and encouraging small farmers to move away from subsistence agriculture into other, more sustainable forms of employment.

The project will provide financial services for small and medium-scale rural enterprises, together with business intermediation services. It will also help alleviate constraints imposed by the poor condition of essential infrastructure, such as water and energy supplies, sanitation and rural roads, by supporting public/private investment in small-scale, commercially derived infrastructure.
