To improve 105 km of roads in the Atsimo-Andrefana region, an area with high poverty levels. Works will include:

  • construction of an all-weather road linking Toliara to Befandriana on the National Road 9;
  • reconstruction of two bridges in Befandriana (RN9) and Pomay (RN35);
  • rehabilitation of social infrastructures, including 16 km of rural roads, construction and equipping of six classrooms and the fencing of the general education college of Mangily;
  • procurement of small farm equipment (hulling) for the women in Mangily village;
  • consultancy services.
On completion the project will help reduce poverty by facilitating the year-round transport of agricultural output and fishing produce to trading centers. Also, the road will help boost socio-economic development of the region by easing access to healthcare and education facilities, as well as administrative services.
