The grant has been extended to SNV Netherlands Development Organization with the aim to reduce energy poverty and increase food security by promoting rice value chain through access to renewable energy resources and agricultural transformation facilities. Main Outputs: 1. The installation of a solar pumping system consisting of a 1,250 Watt-peak solar photovoltaic plant, a 2.5 m3/hr solar water pump, a water tower with 10 m3 storage capacity, and a direct current solar system for the lighting needs of the small storage facility. 2. The installation of two rice husk gasifiers. Project Impact: The project helped the country decrease the rice importation and reduce poverty through improvement of rice value chain and stimulated the adoption of renewable energy technologies by processing units' owners and contribute to food security in Burkina Faso.The direct beneficiaries of the project are more than 600 women rice parboilers, members of the local agricultural cooperative, who increased their incomes and got better living conditions; in addition to about 3,700 persons of their family members who benefitted from the increased household income .
