Honduras’ Agricultural Corridor Road spans 232 km from Telica in the North-central region to Puerto Castilla on the Atlantic Coast. The stretch links some key agricultural areas; namely the Agalta and Guayape Valleys with the Aguan Valley. The corridor is composed of four sections, two of which are already being rehabilitated.

OFID’s co-financing will support renovation of the two remaining portions: the 130 km Gualco– Bonito Oriental and the 50 km Bonito Oriental– Puerto Castilla. Bridges and drainage systems will also be repaired. In addition, the project will support a two-year program, involving local micro-enterprises owned by indigenous tribes, who will receive training in community-based road maintenance. At least 1.2 million people are expected to benefit from the project.
